Out of the Thicket Banner

Drew Kizer

Drew Kizer has preached for the Ashville Road Church of Christ in Leeds, Alabama, just outside of Birmingham, since 2000. He received a B.A. in Bible and a M.A. in New Testament from Freed-Hardeman University.

Drew has written several books. His first fiction release, Burdens, is a collection of short stories. His books are available through Amazon and Riddle Creek Publishing. A novel, Out of the Thicket, is set to be released in October 2025.

In addition to his local work, Drew stays busy writing, podcasting, and speaking at lectureships, gospel meetings, and mission campaigns.

You can hear him on Passages, a podcast about great quotes, life, and the wisdom of the Bible.

His thirteen-year battle with early onset Parkinson’s Disease has given him perspective on how God gives strength through weakness. Drew likes to use his experience with chronic illness to help others who are in similar situations, especially those who suffer from PD. He has written about his experiences in his book, Sufficient Grace: A Christian Perspective on Chronic Illness.

Drew and his wife Julie have two children: Ava and Jackson. Also, he is proud to be the son, son-in-law, and brother of gospel preachers.
